The Reverend John Joseph Fetterman was born on July 4, 1937, in Harrisburg, PA to Francis and John Fetterman, Senior. Rev. Fetterman passed away on March 19, 2017.
John graduated from the North American College in Rome and was ordained in December 19, 1962. He came to Pittsburgh in 1972 and taught classics at the University of Pittsburgh. John was interim pastor at Christ Episcopal Church in the North Hills. John was Associate Clergy at Calvary Church in Shadyside and Rector of Grace Episcopal Church in Madison, Wisconsin. John served in several leadership and pastoral positions for the Episcopal Diocese. John was President and CEO of Episcopal Elder Care Services at The Episcopal Church Home which later became Canterbury Place.
Late in his career, John taught at the Neighborhood Academy in the East End.
John is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kate; sons, Jay T (Anita) Carson, Christopher (Dar-Wen) Carson, Joshua (Melissa) Fetterman; the late Catherine Kelly; and ten adored grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Interment will be private. There will be a memorial service at Calvary Episcopal Church in Shadyside on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception.
