Lang, John Joseph, baptized into the hope of Christ’s resurrection, Friday August 3, 2018.
Beloved husband of the late Kathleen Gannon Lang. Lovingly remembered by his brother James (Nancy) Lang, sister-in-law Jane Gimple Letich, brothers-in-law Harry Gannon and George Hudson, and 24 nieces and nephews.
He was born on July 1, 1934, in Richmond Heights (St. Luke’s Parish), the son of John George Lang and Mary Eleanor Bergman Lang. John attended Kenrick Seminary in St. Louis, and then the North American College in Rome. He was ordained into the priesthood in 1959 in Rome. He faithfully served the St. Louis Archdiocese for 17 years. John left the priesthood in 1977 and was granted laicization.
In 1978 he established a successful travel agency (Travel Tyme) in Ellisville, which he ran until his death. John (along with his wife Kathy) continued his devotion to God by leading thousands of people on life-changing religious pilgrimages throughout the world.
Preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers Robert and Paul Lang; and sisters Rosemary Lang Dolan and Eleanor Ley Hayes.
Services: Funeral Mass at Most Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Eureka, Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Interment Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to “James D. Missey Special Needs Trust” c/o Stephen Missey, 2131 Briargate Ln., St. Louis, MO 63122 or a charity of your choice. Visitation at the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway, Ballwin, Monday, August 6, 2018 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. and at the church, Tuesday, August 7, 2018 from 9-10 a.m.
