Rev. Albert G. Baillargeon, 83, of 12 Jacobs Drive died Monday April 18, 2005 after a brief period of ill health.

Born in Newmarket on September 18, 1921 the son of Alfred and Amelia (Bergeron) Baillargeon, he has lived in Rochester since Oct. 1, 1989, upon retiring as Pastor of St. Joseph Parish Center, Ossipee and Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Chocorua.

Rev. Albert G. Baillargeon was ordained a catholic priest May 31, 1947. He was associate pastor in the following parishes: St. George Manchester 6/11/47. St Anne, Berlin 7/18/49, St. Edmund, Manchester 8/14/41, where he was also on the teaching staff at Bishop Bradley High School from 1951 to 1960.

He served as chaplain at the N.H. State Penitentiary, Assistant Chaplain N.H. State Hospital, Chaplain at the Carmelite Monastery, all three in Concord, from 1951 to 1962. In June of 1962 he was assigned to the Villa Augustina, Goffstown, Hillsborough County Home, Hospital and Jail.

He was Pastor at St. Leo, Gonic 4/10/64, Pastor St. Marie, Manchester 3/6/68, St. Joseph, Ctr. Ossipee and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Mission, Chocorua, Chaplain of the Carroll County House of Correction and White Mountain Nursing Home 11/16/1983.

Additional Ministry: Dean, Manchester West Deanery 1981-83. Diocesan Spiritual Director of the Blue Army 1986 to 1990. Retired from St. Joseph/Our Lady of Perpetual Help Mission 2/14/1990. Since his retirement he has assisted at St. Mary Church in Dover.

He is survived by two sisters: Ms. Jeannette Baillargeon of Newmarket, Mrs. Edward (Rita) Longa of Newmarket, a sister-in-law Laurette Baillargeon of Newmarket and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

His extended family includes his primary care giver, Ms. Rachelle Arcoite of Rochester, Mr. Riel Arcoite of Canada, Jacinthe Arcoite of Leominster, MA, Mrs. Robert (Micheline) Boisvert of Valley Field, Canada, Mr. Jean Arcoite of St. Chrysostome, Canada and Mr. Hermenegilde of Howick, Canada.

Three brothers David Baillargeon, Leo Baillargeon, Victor Baillargeon and two sisters Anna Ducharme and Lily Gagne, predeceased him.

His body will be received at St. Mary Church, corner of Chestnut & Third Sts., Dover with the Rite of Reception at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday. A Solemn Vespers Service offered at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening, and will lie in state until 9:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

A Con-Celebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Church with Most Rev. John B. McCormack, D.D. Bishop of Manchester as principal celebrant. Burial will follow in the family lot in Calvary Cemetery, Newmarket.
