Rev. Albert Peter Vucinovich January 31, 1937 – August 14, 2008. Resident of Burlingame, CA. Father Al Vucinovich peacefully passed away with family and friends at his side at the age of 71 after a long illness. He was born in San Francisco, CA, and attended St. Paul Grammar School and Archbishop Riordan High School before beginning his studies at St. Joseph’s College in Mountain View and then St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 13, 1964. He began his priesthood as associate pastor at Church of the Resurrection, Sunnyvale, CA, until 1970 when he was appointed to the faculty at Serra High School in San Mateo, CA. In 1979 he was associate pastor again at Church of the Resurrection. In 1982 he became associate pastor at St. Sebastian’s in Greenbrae, CA. In 1985 he became associate pastor at St. Catherine of Siena. In 1986 he became pastor at St. Rita’s in Fairfax. He then returned to St. Catherine of Siena as pastor in 1998 until his retirement last month. Also, in 1969 he became a chaplain in the Navy Reserve and retired in 1992 as a captain. He is survived by his aunt Jane Dabovich and many cousins in Yugoslavia. He lived his life with strong morals, wonderful spirit, sense of humor, friendliness and a deep faith and love of the Lord. He will be deeply missed by his family and his friends. The Rosary will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at 7:00 P.M. and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1310 Bayswater Ave. Burlingame, CA. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 1500 Mission Rd. Colma, CA. The family asks that all donations in Fr. Al’s memory be directed to St. Catherine of Siena School, 1300 Bayswater Ave. Burlingame, CA.
