Saint Benedict – Fr. Alexander Plasker, O.S.B., a monk and priest of Mount Angel Abbey, died Feb. 7, 2018 at the Abbey in Saint Benedict, Oregon. He was 83 years of age, 60 years professed as a monk, and 55 years ordained as a priest. Vigils of the Dead will be celebrated in the Abbey church at 7:30 PM on February 12, and a Pontifical Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM on February 13, followed by his burial in the Abbey cemetery.

Father Alexander was born in Portland, Oregon, in 1934. Following high school, he entered Mount Angel Seminary College and was among eight novices in the community in 1956-57. He was ordained to the priesthood at the Abbey by Archbishop Edward D. Howard of Portland in May of 1962. Fr. Alexander was preceded in death by his brother, Father Robert, who was a Holy Cross priest. They are survived by their sister, Mary Clare (Jeff) McWhirter, five nieces, nephews and their children, and the monks of Mount Angel Abbey.
