Reverend Anthony Louis Minniti, age 80 years of Collingswood, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, in Virtua – Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Camden. He was the former pastor of St. John’s Church in Collingswood. Reverend Minniti was born and raised in Paulsboro and was an alumnus of Paulsboro High School. He later attended the Pontifical North American College Seminary in Rome and was ordained to the priesthood on December 18, 1970, by Cardinal James Hickey at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome
Father Minniti faithfully served the following parishes: Parochial Vicar of Transfiguration in West Collingswood, Parochial Vicar of St. Rose of Lima in Haddon Heights from 1974-76, In residence at Corpus Christy in Carneys Point from 1976-77, Parochial Vicar of Most Holy Redeemer in Westville Grove from 1977-82, Parochial Vicar of St. Michael’s in Gibbstown from 1982-85, Parochial Vicar of St. Rose of Lima in Newfield from 1985-88, Parochial Vicar of St. Mary’s in Williamstown from 1988-93, Parochial Vicar of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Absecon from 1993-94, Pastor of St. Ann’s in Elmer from 1994-2000, Pastor of St. John’s in Paulsboro from 2000-2008 (the Parish in which he was raised) and Senior Priest at St. John’s in Collingswood from 2008 until his retirement.
Father Minniti also served as Secretary to Bishop James Schad for several years and taught religion at St. James High School, Carneys Point.
He is survived by his sister, Nicolina Marucci of Turnersville; his brothers, Vincent (Lorraine) Minniti of Paulsboro, Dr. Carl (Lorraine) Minniti, Sr. of Gibbstown, Reverend David Minniti of Collingswood and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Carmelo and Stefania Minniti, and his siblings, Dr. Joseph Minniti, John “Dazz” Minniti, Laura DiDonato, Dr. Alex Minniti, and Angelina Minniti.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday, December 29, 2023, in St. Clare of Assisi Parish, St. Michael’s Church, 313 Memorial Avenue, Gibbstown. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Friday morning after 10 AM until Mass time. Interment at New St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Swedesboro.
