Christmas Eve evening, December 24, 2021, Rev. Brian Michael Rafferty, went home to the Lord. Raff, as he was affectionately known by many, was surrounded by friends, love and prayers at the hour of his death.

Fr. Rafferty who was ordained in Rome on December 19, 1962 will long be remembered for his challenging homilies, his humor, wit, and wisdom. He was a man of great compassion with a love for the poor and the marginalized. He loved being a parish priest and found great meaning and purpose in pastoring Our Lady of the Chesapeake for 26 years. He was the founding pastor of the Church of the Resurrection in Ellicott City. May Raff rest in peace.

Visiting will be on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Our Lady of the Chesapeake 8325 Ventnor Rd Pasadena, Maryland 21122. All visitors are kindly asked to wear a face mask covering your nose and mouth. Services are scheduled as follows: 12:00pm -Reception of the Body at OLC 12:00pm – 5:00pm – Fr. Raff will lie in repose in the Church 7:00pm – Mass of the Resurrection with Archbishop Lori The Mass will also be live-streamed on Our Lady of the Chesapeake’s Facebook page. Interment is private at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Chesapeake 8325 Ventnor Road Pasadena, MD 21122.
