REVEREND CHARLEY A. GIACOSA, 71, passed away October 12, 2007. Born February 17, 1936 in Memphis, TN; he was a kind and gentle man who dedicated his life to the service of God and all mankind. He is survived by his two nieces, Vickie Veglio and Charlene Williford, both of Memphis; and several other nieces and nephews. Rev. Giacosa’s education included the Blessed Sacrament Grade School and Christian Brothers High School, both in Memphis. He received a B.A in Philosophy in 1959 from St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa, S.T.B. in theology in 1963 from North American College in Rome Italy. He was ordained December 19, 1962 in Rome Italy. He was active in sports throughout his school years (baseball, football, wrestling and tennis). In his later years he loved to play golf. He was the assistant pastor at St. Henry Church 1963-1970, The Cathedral 1970-1971, Christ the King 1971-1973, Administrator at St. Ann 1975, and Administrator in Residence at St. Edward 1975-1976, Director of the Ministry Formation Services Catholic Center 1983-1989. He was assigned to St. Edward Parish in June of 1975 in preparation as Pastor to begin the formation and construction of a new Catholic site, St. Ignatius of Antioch Catholic Community in Antioch. He served as Pastor at St. Ignatius of Antioch 1975-1983, St. Henry Church 1989-1991, St. Christopher Church, Dickson, July 1991-1998, St. Martha Church, Ashland City, October 1998-May 2001 and St. Henry Church May 8, 2001 to present. Rev. Giacosa held many other positions/involvements since his ordination: Executive Secretary etc./Clergy Personnel Board, Episcopal Vicar etc./Nashville Deanery. Director of Religious Education for Middle Tennessee Deanery, Professor at Father Ryan High School for six years, member of Personnel Board for five years, Involved with a team of priests to establish the Deaconate program in the Diocese of Nashville in 1974, Retreat work, Days of Prayer and Spiritual Direction, Spiritual director of the Nashville Cursillo Movement in the U.S., Vicar for Religious, The First Diocesan Pastoral Council Formed, Presbyteral Council-two terms, Liturgy Committee in 1960s, Youth Commission, Represented U.S. at Pontifical Council of Laity in Rome (Nation Cursillio Movement), Pilgrimage to Rome in 1975, 1978, Pilgrimage to Holy Land/Rome 1983 and Diocesan Director Deaconate Programs 1998-2001. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, October 15 at St. Henry Catholic Church with Bishop David Choby presiding and other priests con-celebrants. Visitation from 4-9 p.m. Sunday, October 14 and Monday from 9-10:30 a.m. at St. Henry Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Active pall-bearers: Gene Mulloy, Bill Dortch, Bruce Salteman, Vince Phillips, John Williford, and George McGinn, honorary pallbearers: nephews, John Cunningham, Mike Figlio, Allen Fohl, Charles Hay, and the Cursillo Group.
