Reverend David Philip Dupuis entered eternal life on March 13, 2015 at the age of 87. He was born September 9, 1927 in Jackson, Michigan to Harry and Adah (Mullinix) Dupuis. He received a BA from Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. He also attended the North American College in Rome and received his STL from the Gregorian College in Rome. He was ordained to the priesthood on December 8, 1951 at Our Lady of Humility at the North American College by the Most Reverend Martin O’ Conner. After his ordination, Father Dupuis served as Associate Pastor for the parishes of St. Michael inFlint, St. Mary in Mt. Morris and St. Mary in Flint. He became the Acting Pastor for St. Mary in Flint in 1960. In 1961 he was appointed Pastor for St. Joseph Parish in Gaines and St. Augustine Parish in Deerfield. In 1971 he also became Pastor for St. Mary Parish in Chelsea. He retired to Senior Priest Status in 1998. He became the Sacramental Minister for Holy Redeemer Parish in Vanderbilt on August 1, 1999 and served there lovingly and faithfully until his death. Father Dupuis is survived by his sister, Harriet (Ted) Bachelder; nieces and nephews, Teresa Irelan, Theodore (Penny) Bachelder, Kristen Smrekar, David (Livia) Bachelder, Deborah (Kenneth) Avery, Catherine (Flip) LeFere, Denise (Larry) Rider, Philip (Sandra) Dupuis, Paulette (Mark) Burgess and Angela (Jeffrey) Henry; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John Anthony and Paul Daniel Dupuis and great niece, Natalie LeFere. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 16, 2015 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm with a vigil service at 6:00 pm at Holy Redeemer Church, 8075 Lincoln Street in Vanderbilt. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, March 17, at 9:00 am at St. Mary Cathedral, 606 North Ohio Avenue in Gaylord, until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. The Most Reverend Steven J. Raica will preside. Services will be offered in the Diocese of Lansing beginning with the Rite of Reception of the Body at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, March 18 at St. Mary Church, 14200 East Old U.S. Hwy. 12 with visitation following until 8:00 pm. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 19, at St. Mary Church in Chelsea, with The Most Reverend Earl Boyea presiding.
