REV. DANIEL P. REDMOND age 53, Pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chardon and St. Patrick Catholic Church in Thompson. Cherished son of Brian M. (wife Karen) and the late Joan Marie (nee Flemming); dearest brother of Karen Redmond (husband Craig Loudermelt) and Mark (wife Jennifer); treasured uncle of Cpt. John-Connor, US Army (wife Cailynn) and Cullen; dear nephew, cousin and friend of many.

Dan Redmond was born on November 25, 1967 and died suddenly May 9, 2021 just 16 days short of celebrating his Silver Jubilee. He was born in Southern California. He attended and graduated from Nashua High School in Nashua, New Hampshire, in 1985. He moved to Cleveland with his family the following summer. Dan attended Bowling Green State University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with an accounting degree in 1989. He went on to attend Borromeo Seminary to pursue his life’s calling.

Dan was ordained May 25, 1995 joining his first parish, St. Vincent DePaul. He then went on to serve at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in North Royalton and St. Monica Catholic Church in Garfield Heights. He served as Pastor at Holy Family Catholic Church in Parma. He joined his last parish, St. Mary Chardon in 2011, serving as their Pastor. Father Dan also served as United States Air Force Chaplain, Second Lieutenant.

He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fly fishing and bird hunting. In his youth, he was a skilled hockey player. He always enjoyed following professional sports and could qualify as an amateur sports statistician. His favorite teams were the Boston Bruins and the Boston Red Sox. He also loved the Beatles.

Dan was described as independent, kind and compassionate. He was both a very precise and patient man. He was very intelligent and well-read. Dan could talk to anyone about anything. He had enjoyed talking about history and had a tremendous memory.

He is remembered as having a wonderful sense of humor and great sense of timing.

He was a living example for his nephews. He took great pride and delivering the sacraments for his family, baptizing all of the children and officiating marriages. Above all, Dan was devoted to his family.

He will be missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Fr. Dan to St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Patrick Catholic Church or Catholic Charities.

The wake will begin on Thursday, May 13, 2021 in St. Mary Church, 401 North St., Chardon, Ohio, 44024 at 3 PM with Vespers and will continue until 8 PM. Bishop Martin J. Amos will be the presider and Fr. Daniel Schlegel will be the homilist. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, May 14, 2021, in St. Mary Church at 11 AM. Bishop Edward C. Malesic will be the main celebrant and Father Michael Gurnick will be the homilist. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery, Valley City.
