Dueweke, Rev. Donald G. Lexington, Michigan Age 75, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2007, at Fair Acres, Armada. He was born September 16, 1932 in Detroit, son of the late Florian and Helen (Dykeman) Dueweke. Father Dueweke was ordained June 4, 1966 at St. Mary Cathedral in Saginaw by diocese of Lansing Auxiliary Bishop Joesph Green for Saginaw Bishop Stephen Woznicki and the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw. His initial studies began at Notre Dame under the direction of the congregation of Holy Cross. He became the founding director of the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw’s lay ministry formation program when it was established by Bishop Francis Reh in 1978. He also served as co-director of the vocations office, a member of the diocesan personnel board and as associate team member in the diocesan ministry to priests office. Father Dueweke’s priestly service also included: St. James Parish,Bay City(Associate Pastor); St. Paul Seminary, Saginaw (Professor/Counselor); All Saints Central High School, Bay City (Counselor); St. Joseph Parish, Auburn(Administrator). He served as pastor to the following churches: St. Edward Parish, Kinde; St. Felix Parish, Pinnebog, St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Beal City; St. Mary Parish, Hemlock; St. Denis Parish, Lexington; St. Michael Parish, Maple Grove; and St. Patrick Parish, Croswell & St. John Parish, Peck. He was granted senior priest status (retired) in 2004. Surviving are one sister, Barbara (the late Robert) Haase; two brothers, Robert (the late Shirley) Dueweke and Gilbert (Mary) Dueweke; several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Denis Catholic Church, Lexington. Bishop Robert J. Carlson, will officiate. Concelebrants are Rev. Robert Dueweke, OSA and classmate Rev. Robert Blondell. Burial will be Mt. Olive Cemetery, Saginaw. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Pomeroy Funeral Home, Lexington, 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday and 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Denis Catholic Church. Vigil 7:00 p.m. Monday at church. Memorials may be made toFairAcresCareCenter, Capuchin Soup Kitchen, or St. Denis Building Fund.
