Father  Donald P. McHugh, 86, Jan. 05, 1930 – Nov. 12, 2016.   Fr. Donald P. McHugh was born to Bernard B. and Helen (Soreghan) McHugh and enjoyed the company of brothers Bernard J., Robert & Philip and sisters Kathleen & Patricia. Fr. McHugh graduated from Central Catholic High School. He continued his education at Mt. Angel Seminary and completed his studies at St. Edward’s Seminary. He also received a Masters in Education from Gonzaga University.

Fr. McHugh was ordained by Archbishop Edward Howard in 1957. He served the Catholic Church from 1957 until he retired in 1998. In addition to serving in parishes in Portland, Lake Oswego, Beaverton, Stayton, Seaside and Gervais, Fr. McHugh also taught at Central Catholic High School for 14 years from 1957-1971. In 1988 he was invited to the Vatican for a retreat spending 3 months in the presence of the Holy Father.

Fr. McHugh served his country a total of 14 years as a member of the U.S. Army, U.S. Army Reserves, Oregon National Guard and Chaplain of the Oregon National Guard from 1985-1988. His highest rank achieved was that of Lieutenant Colonel. Willamette National Cemetery will be his final resting place Fr. McHugh was an avid golfer and enjoyed many rounds of golf with his brothers, fellow priests and friends alike. In celebration of his Golden Jubilee in 2007 the parishioners of Our Lady of the Lake presented him with golfing trip to Scotland. Services to be held at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Portland, OR. Thursday, December 1, 2016. Rosary 9:30. Funeral Mass 10:00.
