PRYOR–Rt. Rev Msgr. Donald J., passed away on Thursday April 27, 2006. Msgr. Pryor was born December 1, 1925 to Bernard and Nora Pryor. He studied at Cathedral College and St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers, NY and was ordained on May 19, 1951 and holds a Master’s of Arts in history from Fordham University. Msgr. Pryor was Secretary of Education for The Archdiocese of New York from 1969 to 1976. He was named a Monsignor in 1970; he served as Pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace on Staten Island from 1978 to 1984, Pastor of the Church of the Resurrection, Rye, from 1984 to 1990, and Pastor of the Church of the Magdalene in Pocantico Hills, NY from 1992 until he retired in 2000. Survived by three nephews, Stephen, Michael, and Martin Burke and a niece Cathleen Burke, three grandnephews and a grandniece. Reposing at the William H. Graham Funeral Home, 1036 Boston Post Rd, Rye, NY on Saturday April 29, 2-4 & 7-9PM. On Sunday at the Church of the Resurrection, 910 Boston Post Rd, Rye NY on Sunday April 30 from 3-6PM. Mass at The Church of The Resurrection will be held Monday, May 1, at 10AM, to be celebrated by Edward Cardinal Egan, Archbishop of New York.
