FATHER EDWARD CHARLES ARNOLD, 81, of Franklin, passed away June 2, 2007. He was the Pastor of St. Philip Catholic Church in Franklin, TN since July of 1979. Father Arnold was the son of Paul and Mary Edith Berry Arnold and was born August 13, 1925 in Owensboro, KY. He attended Sacred Heart and St. AnnParochial Schools, Memphis, Tennessee, ChristianBrothersHigh School in Memphis, Memphis State College, St. Ambrose College in Davenport, IA and the North American Collegein Rome. He was ordained to the priesthood on December 15, 1957 in the chapel at the North American College in Rome. Father Arnold served as associate pastor of St. Josephin Madison, the first pastor of Our Lady of the LakeParishin Hendersonville. He also taught at Father Ryan High School, worked extensively with youth ministries, and served on a number of boards in the diocese. He was a Purple Heart Recipient with Patton’s Army in World War II. He created SEARCH for Christ Youth Program for the Diocese of Nashville.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Paul Herman Arnold, Jr. and Frank Arnold. He is survived by brother, Gene (Lynn) Arnold; sisters, Mary A. (William) Mosteller, Sister Catherine Arnold, Rita (Gene) Pastor and Edith (Thomas) Hatfield; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Linda and Mark Seyfred.

Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 8 at St. Philip Catholic Church with celebrants, Bishop David Choby, Bishop Niedergeses, Father Bevington and priests of the Diocese. Interment in CalvaryCemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Seyfred, Frank Zeber, William, Jr., Paul, Tim, Michael and Mark Mosteller and Mario Guasco. Honorary pallbearers will be St. Philip Men’s Club and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, from 1-3 p.m. and from 5-8 p.m., Thursday at St. Philip Catholic Church.
