Stephen Infantino, a professor of philosophy at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, IL, and an ardent proponent of peace with justice in the Middle East, died Feb. 29, 2000 at the age of 61 of injuries resulting from a fall while working on his garage. Born in Chicago in 1938, he graduated from Quigley North Seminary in 1957, and also attended St. Mary of the Lake Seminary in Mundelein and Gregorian University in Rome, Italy. He was ordained a Roman Catholic priest in 1963 and served at St. Genevieve Parish in Chicago. He taught at Niles College of Loyola University and earned a Ph.D. in classics from the University of Chicago.

He became an Episcopal priest in 1975, serving at Annunciation to Our Lady parish in Waukegan, IL and later as curate at St. Lawrence Episcopal Church in Libertyville. He had been a faculty member at the College of Lake County since 1973, teaching philosophy, comparative religion, ethics and Middle East Studies, and organized a number of programs relating to the Middle East. He is survived by his wife and fellow activist, Cindy, as well as by his mother, sister, nephew, niece and grandnephew.
