Father William Frederick Hendrickson, a retired priest of the Archdiocese of Louisville and a former teacher at Bellarmine University, died April 5, 2009 at his home in Louisville. He was 76 and had been a priest for 53 years.

A native of Casey County, Ky., Father Hendrickson served at parishes in the archdiocese, was assistant editor of The Record from 1961-63 and taught at Bellarmine for 38 years. He was ordained to the priesthood May 26, 1956.

He graduated from the former St. Mary’s High School and College in Marion County and St. Meinrad Seminary,St. Meinrad, Ind. He earned licentiate and doctoral degrees in philosophy from Angelicum University in Rome.

Father Hendrickson served as associate pastor at Christ the King, Cathedral of the Assumption and St. Edward churches in Louisville and at St. Aloysius Church in Pewee Valley, Ky. He also served at Guardian Angels and St. Martha churches in Louisville, taught at Trinity High School and was eucharistic celebrant at Christopher East from 1980 to 2008.

He taught logic, ethics and medical ethics at Bellarmine from 1963 to 2001, and he served at various times as head of the Philosophy Department.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Ruth and Trish Hendrickson; 12 nieces and nephews; 26 great-nieces and great-nephews; and many cousins. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 8 at St. Martha Church. Burial was in the St. Clement Church cemetery in Clementsville, Ky.
