Rev. George M. Vrabely, age 78, of LaPorte, IN and formerly of Whiting/Hammond, IN passed away June 7, 2007. Born August 12, 1928 in Whiting, IN to Stephen and Julia (Balog) Vrabely. He is survived by Brother-in-law John Lasics of East Chicago, IN; nieces: Julie (Philip) Parker of Warrenville, IL, Agnes Lasics of Munster, IN, Jean (Andrew) Lasics-Wessels of Osega, IL and Laura Lasics of East Chicago, IN; great-nephew Billy Parker; great-nieces: Mary Clair and Sarah Therese Wessels; aunt Elizabeth Santy of Whiting, IN; several cousins. Preceded in death by parents; twin brother Rev. John Vrabely; brother Rev. Stephen Vrabely; sister (sister of Providence) Sister Elizabeth Clare Vrabely; sister Mary Therese (John) Lasics. Funeral Mass will be at St. Peter Catholic Church Tuesday, June 12, 2007 with Morning prayer at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass with Bishop Dale Melczek officiating and Father James Flanagan, CCS, Homilist. Viewing St. Peter Catholic Church Monday, June 11, 2007 from 3-8 p.m. with the Rite of Reception at 3:00 p.m. and Evening Prayer at 7:00 p.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church. He attended St. Melnrad College and Theology studies in St. Meinrad, IN, graduated from St. Meinrad Seminary with his twin brother Rev. John Vrabely in 1953.
