Rev. Gerald A. Bajek, 69, of Allendale, N.J., passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2014. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at 9 a.m. from J.C. Fila Lexington Memorial Home, 340 Lexington Ave., Clifton, N.J. 07011. Mass of Christian Burial is at St. Casimir R.C. Church, Newark, N.J., at 10:30 a.m. Interment is at Calvary Cemetery, Paterson, N.J. Visiting hours are on Monday, April 28, 2014, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Born in Passaic, N.J., Father Gerald lived in Garfield, N.J., before entering the priesthood. He was ordained in Rome, Italy (1969), by Most Rev. James Hickey, D.D.
He served as pastor at St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Jersey City, N.J., from 1987 to 1993. He also served as chaplain at Bergen Regional Medical Center in Paramus, N.J., from 1996 to 1999 and as pastor at St. Casimir R.C. Church in Newark, N.J., from 2001 until his retirement in 2007. Fr. Gerald completed his academic degrees and received a licentiate of sacred theology and bachelor of sacred theology.
He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Edith Bajek; a sister, Joan Bajek; and nephew, Kevin Babicz. Fr. Gerald is survived by his sister, Bernadette and her husband, William Babicz, of Ramsey, N.J.; two nephews, Douglas Babicz of San Diego, Calif., and Michael Babicz of Ramsey, and a niece, Connie Babicz of Ramsey.
