Reverend Gregory A. Boensch went to his Eternal reward on January 31, 2009. Father Boensch was born on January 9, 1924 to August and Elizabeth Kuntscher Boensch in Vattman, Texas. He attended Assumption Seminary in San Antonio, Texas. Father Boensch became a priest for the Diocese of Corpus Christi on May 27, 1950. He served in numerous parishes during his service to the Lord. He was first assigned to Christ the King in Corpus Christi. He was later pastor at St. Mary Star of the Sea in Aransas Pass. He also served as pastor in the following parishes: Sacred Heart in Mathis, Immaculate Conception in Taft, St. Gertrude in Kingsville, Sacred Heart in Three Rivers, St. Jude in Laredo, Our Lady of Good Counsel in Kingsville, St. Anthony’s in Violet, and St. Mary’s in Freer.

Father Boensch traveled extensively, visiting from the ice of Antarctica to the Great Wall of China. He found friends wherever he traveled.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters – Angela Boensch, Therese Wilson and Olivia Boensch, and his brother Jerome Boensch. He is survived by his nephews and their wives ‘ Michael and Michiko Wilson of Charlottesville, Virginia, and Patrick and Dale Wilson of San Antonio, Texas, and his brother-in-law, Kenneth Wilson of Dripping Springs, Texas.

Father’s legacy is with parishioners that he served. A Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Corpus Christi with a Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will follow at Our Lady of Consolation Cemetery in Vattman, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Incarnate Word Academy for the school building fund.
