Rev. Fr. James Christopher Csaszar died on December 20, 2017 in Chicago, Illinois. He was born February 26, 1973 in Columbus, the son of James J. (Sharon) Csaszar of Columbus and the late Bobbi E. (Butts) Csaszar who passed away November 30, 2000. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Pontifical College Josephinum (Columbus) in 1995, and a Bachelor of Sacred Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University (Rome) in 1999. He was ordained to the Roman Catholic priesthood at Saint Joseph Cathedral (Columbus) on June 26, 1999 by the Most Reverend James A. Griffin.

During his years of priestly service in the Diocese of Columbus, Fr. Csaszar was appointed Associate Pastor at Saint Nicholas Church (Zanesville) in 1999, with pastoral duties at Bishop Rosecrans High School; Pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish (Kenton) in 2003; Pastor of the Perry County Consortium of Parishes (Saint Rose, New Lexington; Saint Bernard, Corning; Saint Patrick, Junction City; Church of the Atonement, Crooksville) 2005; and Pastor of Church of the Resurrection (New Albany) in 2016.

In addition to his father and step-mother, Fr. Csaszar is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Jodi and Mike Snider of Newark; his nephews, Rudy, J.J. and Michael Snider; his nieces, Sarah, Mary and Joanna Snider, all of Newark; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Calling hours will be held on December 28, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Church of the Resurrection, 6300 E. Dublin-Granville Road, New Albany, OH 43054 where a Vigil Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Calling hours will resume at the Church on December 29, 2017, 10:00 a.m., followed by an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Fr. Jonathan Wilson will celebrate the Mass, Fr. James Black will be the homilist; burial will follow in the Priest’s Section of Resurrection Cemetery, 9571 North High Street, Columbus.
