Reverend James F. Wieging, passed from this life on August 11, 2021, at the age of 79.

Father Wieging was born on September 27, 1941, in Monroe, Michigan, and ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Detroit on June 3, 1967.

Father Wieging served as Pastor of St. Francis Xavier Parish, Ecorse and Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, River Rouge; Administrator of St. Timothy Parish, Trenton; Our Lady of the Woods Parish, Woodhaven; and St. Elizabeth Parish, Wyandotte. He also served as Parochial Vicar of St. David of Wales Parish, Detroit and St. Lawrence Parish, Utica. Father Wieging also served as a chaplain and on faculty at Madonna University, Livonia.

Father Wieging is predeceased by his parents, Albert and Mildred (Hoersten) Wieging, and his sister, Janice Conrad. He is survived by his sisters, Lucille (Dave) Pohlman and Barbara (Mike) Meachum.

Visitation will take place at Molnar Funeral Home Nixon Chapel, 2544 Biddle Avenue, Wyandotte, MI 48192 on Monday, August 16 from 2 – 8 PM. He will lie in state at St. Andre Bessette Parish, 4250 W. Jefferson Avenue, Ecorse, MI 48229 on Tuesday, August 17 at 10 AM until the time of his funeral Mass at 11 AM. His burial will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Wyandotte immediately following.
