The Rev. Jerome “Jerry” R. Gingras pastor of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Glenville, Our Lady of Grace Church, Ballston Lake and St. Joseph’s Church, Scotia, died on Friday, October 8, 2021. He was 71 years old. Father Gingras was born in Chicopee, Mass. on May 23, 1950, to the late Edmond and Juliette (Lafleur) Gingras.

After graduating from Holyoke Community College, Father Gingras entered the Conventual Franciscan Friars in 1970, and attended St. Hyacinth College and Seminary in Granby, Mass. and St. Anthony-on-Hudson Seminary, Rensselaer. On May 6, 1978, he was ordained to the priesthood at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Albany by Bishop Howard Hubbard. After ordination, he served mostly in parish work in Atlas, Pa., Baltimore, M.D., Sharon, Pa., Lawrence, Mass., Clinton Heights, and most recently, in Glenville.

He is survived by his brothers, Daniel (the late Suzanne), Edmond (Claire), and Leonard (Kay); his sisters, Suzanne Constantino and Rochelle (Richard) Benoit; along with many nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and nephews.

Fr. Gingras’ body will be received at The Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Road, Glenville, at 3 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 7 p.m. with the Most Reverend Edward B. Scharfenberger, Bishop of Albany as the celebrant. The Mass will be livestreamed via a link that can be found on the church’s website. Interment will be private at St. Rose DeLima Cemetery in Chicopee, Mass.
