The Reverend John R. Rathfon Pastor Emeritus, Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Cuyahoga Falls died Thursday, 19 July 2018, after having received the prayerful support and consolation of the Sacraments.

Fr. Rathfon’s first assignment was as Parochial Vicar of Blessed Sacrament, Cleveland. He was transferred on 8 June 1961 to serve Epiphany, Cleveland as Parochial Vicar. On 14 September 1961 he was assigned Parochial Vicar of St. Wenceslas, Maple Hts. During this assignment he served as Director of CYO Cuyahoga Southeast Deanery (1961) and as a Member of the Diocesan Music Commission (1964).

On 10 June 1965 Fr. Rathfon took up residency at Borromeo Seminary College to study music. In the fall of 1965 he attended Church Music Studies in Rome. On 9 June 1966 Fr. Rathfon was assigned Parochial Vicar of Immaculate Conception, Cleveland.

At the request of Fr. Rathfon there will be no Vespers. Visitation will be on Monday, 23 July 2018 from 9:30am until 10:45am in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 1905 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls OH 44223 immediately preceding the Funeral Mass at 11:00am. Bishop Roger Gries, OSB will be the main celebrant and Fr. Michael B. Smith will be the homilist. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery, Northfield.
