Fr. John J. Wisneski was born April 7, 1938 in Grand Rapids . He was ordained June 6, 1964 by Bishop Allen Babcock. He went to be with the Lord on Wednesday December 20, 2017.

He attended St. Joseph Seminary in Grand Rapids, St. Mary Seminary and University in Baltimore and St. John Provincial Seminary in Plymouth. He later served as Associate Pastor for Sacred Heart Church and St. Andrew Cathedral in Grand Rapids, in addition to St. Mary, Muskegon and St. Paul Campus Parish, Big Rapids. Fr. John was also the temporary co-administrator of St. Bernard, Irons and St. Ignatius, Luther. He then continued his role as pastor at St. Joseph, Belding MI and St. Mary, Miriam, MI, St. Francis Xavier, Grand Rapids, Holy Trinity Comstock Park and Blessed Sacrament, Grand Rapids.

Father John was the recipient of the St. George Award which was given to Catholic Adults involved in the Scouting Program; he was also a member of the Senate of Priest along with Consultor to the Bishop and the Chaplain of Knights of Columbus Council # 13391.

Fr. John was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Leone Wisneski and his brother Robert R. Wisneski. Surviving are his two nieces; Jane R. Hicks, Renee Mullinix, nephew Robert R. Wisneski II, a great nephew Jacob Mullinix, great nieces; Christine Guernsey, Sarayah Zediker-Wisneski , and many beloved cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday 11:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 2275 Diamond Ave NE , Grand Rapids MI 49505 , Bishop David Walkowiak presiding. His family will receive visitors Tuesday 4-8 pm at the church and Wednesday one hour prior at church. A Vigil Service will be Tuesday at 7:00 pm. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
