Brennan, Rev. Joseph Patrick a priest of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester died on September 22, 2008. During his ministry, he served as Assistant Pastor at St. Jerome’s Church, East Rochester, Professor of Biblical Studies and Rector of St. Bernard’s Seminary, Pastor of St, Mary’s Church, Scottsville, Dean of St. Edmund’s House at Cambridge University, England and Director of Religious Affairs at the University of Rochester. In his retirement, he was the week-end Assistant at St. Mary’s Church in downtown Rochester. He is survived by his brother priests, his cousins in the Brennan and Craugh families, and many dear friends, especially the Jim and Monica Cloonan family of Rochester.
Father Brennan will lie in state at St. Mary’s Church in downtown Rochester on Wednesday September 24 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. concluding with Evening Prayer celebrated at 7:00 p.m. On Thursday, he will continue to lie in state from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. with Bishop Matthew H. Clark presiding. Memorials in his honor may be sent to St. Mary’s Church, 15 South Street (14605), the Sisters of Mercy, 1437 Blossom Road (14610) or the Brennan-Goldman Institute at St. Bernard’s School of Theology, 120 French Road (14618).
