Franciscan Friar Laurence Dolan March 10, 1940 – May 15, 2018 OCEANSIDE Franciscan Friar Laurence Dolan, OFM, residing at Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside, passed into the arms of God on May 15, 2018. Born and educated in San Diego, he was ordained for the Diocese of San Diego in December, 1965. He was chaplain at the University of San Diego, pastor of Resurrection Church, Escondido. He made his solemn profession into the Franciscan Order in August, 1992. He ministered in Topawa, AZ, Sts. Simon and Jude in Huntington Beach and the Franciscan Renewal Center, Scottsdale, AZ. He moved to Mission San Luis Rey in 2009 where he retired. During his “retirement”, he gave retreats focusing on ministry to those in recovery, and served on the Board of Directors of Guest House. He was 78 years old, 30 years professed and 53 years ordained. The Mass of the Resurrection will be at Mission San Luis Rey at 2pm on May 24th.
