Father LeRoy Linnebur obituary, Colwich, KS

Linnebur, Father LeRoy – 85, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at the Catholic Care Center in Wichita. Fr Linnebur was born on a farm in Colwich, KS on July 24, 1932, to his parents, Bill and Alvine Linnebur.

He attended grade school in Colwich and high school in Andale, KS. After high school, he helped his parents on the farm raising cattle for a couple of years before entering the Seminary. He attended the North American College in Rome, Italy, and was ordained a priest at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome in 1961.

He served the following parishes: Assistant at St. Patrick in Kingman (1962); Assistant at All Saints in Wichita (1964); Religious Education Advisor at St. Mary High School in Wichita (1964); Assistant at Church of the Magdalen in Wichita (1965); Tribunal, Defensor Vinculi in Wichita (1966); Assistant at Sacred Heart in Frontenac (1966); Administrator at St. Mary’s Colgan Catholic High School in Pittsburg (1966); Administrator at Trinity Catholic High School in Hutchinson (1968); Chaplain at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Hutchinson (1968); Administrator at Holy Trinity in Little River (1970); Priest in Residence at St. Teresa in Hutchinson (1973); Pastor at Sacred Heart in Cunningham (1975); Pastor at St. John the Evangelist in El Dorado (1978); Pastor at St. Joseph in Conway Springs (1983); Pastor at S. martin of Tours (1983); Pastor at St. John the Evangelist in Clonmel (1992).

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Juanita (Mike) Mohr, Helen (John) Youngers; sister-in-law, Birdela; and nephew, Fr Dave Linnebur. Survivors are sisters, Sister Mary Ruth of Oshkosh, WI, Mary (Norman) Youngers of Kingman; brothers, Wayne (Luella) of Wichita, Donald of Wichita; and many nieces and nephews. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday, September 15; Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 16, both at Sacred Heart of Catholic Church, Colwich. Memorial has been established with Priest Education and Retirement Fund. Wulf-Ast Mortuary, Colwich.
