Rev. Louis A. Evangelisto, 86, of New Britain, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 19, 2016. Born in New Britain, son of the late Feliciano and Michelina (Del Conte) Evangelisto, he was a longtime New Britain resident. He found his calling in his faith and became a priest for the Archdiocese of Hartford and retired after 61 years of service. Rev. Evangelisto retired from the U.S. Army after 23 years of service to his country and earned a Bronze Star Medal in Vietnam. He also most recently served as Chaplain for Quinnipiac University and Pastor of St. Donato’s Church in New Haven until his retirement. He was predeceased by his brother Anthony Evangelisto. He leaves countless friends, family and colleagues from around the world. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 25th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church, 47 Clark St., New Britain. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Burritt Hill Funeral Home, 332 Burritt St., New Britain.
