Rev. Marc A. Piche’, 68, of Newburyport, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, surrounded by his family and friends at his family’s home in Avon.

He was born in Brockton on June 6, 1942, son of the late Marcel and Noella (Landry) Piche’.

Rev. Piche’ attended Sacred Heart Grammar School in Brockton, Assumption High School, Class of 1960, and Assumption College, both in Montreal. He later attended St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, and also received his Master’s degree from Providence College.

Rev. Piche’ served at St. Francis Parish in Medford, St. Peter’s Parish in Plymouth, St. Joseph’s Parish in Salem, St. Mary’s Parish in Wrentham, St. Patrick’s Parish in Stoneham, Sacred Heart/St. James Parishes in Groton as administrator, was pastor of Sacred Hearts Parish in Bradford for 13-and-a-half years and has been pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish in Newburyport since June 1, 2003.

He enjoyed skiing, spending time with his friends, parishioners, and traveling.

He is survived by his three brothers, Roger J. Piche’ and Thomas Griffith of Lake Suzie, Fla., Joseph F. Piche’ of Plymouth, and Andre M. Piche’ and his wife Carole (Beltis) of Avon; as well as several cousins and friends.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral Mass on Saturday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 42 Green St. Newburyport. Interment will be at a later date in the Parish Priest Lot at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Newburyport. Rev. Piche’ will lie in state on Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the church. Cardinal Sean O’Malley will celebrate a Vigil Service at 5:30 p.m. Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society at Immaculate Conception Church, 42 Green St., Newburyport or to the Restoration Fund at Immaculate Conception Church. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill and Bradford.
