Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Deacon Paul F. Hittner, 76, a resident of East Moline and formerly of Davenport, will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 4105 N. Division Street, Davenport. Most Reverend Martin J. Amos, Bishop of the Diocese of Davenport, will be the celebrant of the funeral Liturgy. Paul died peacefully Monday, August 26, 2013, surrounded by his loving family and following declining health-related issues.

Paul Francis Hittner was born September 30, 1936 in Carrollton, Missouri, a son of Arthur Aloysius and Claire (Wegener) Hittner. He graduated with a B.S. in Philosophy and Theology from the Gregorian University in Rome, Italy. He also earned a Master’s Degree in Latin from Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska and a Master’s Degree in Library Science from Denver University.

He was united in marriage to Mary Loretto McMichael on Aug. 15, 1964, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Kansas City, Mo. Surviving Paul are his wife, Mary, East Moline; children, Nicholas, Frances, Claire, Gwendolyn, Steven, Laura, and Christopher; sisters, Anne Girard, Overland Park, Kan., and Virginia Hittner, McAllen, Texas; brothers, Herman (Shirley) Hittner, East Lansing, Mich., Robert (Dot) Hittner, St. John, Mo., and Tony Hittner of Salina, Kan., and sister-in-law, Melba Hittner, McAllen.
