Reverend Monsignor Daniel A. Murray, Pastor, saint Rose of Lima Parish, North Wales, died on Thursday, June 26, 2014.

Monsignor Murray was born on November 27, 1937, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. he is the son of the late Daniel Murray and the late Kathleen Hoban. Monsignor Murray attended Saint Barbara Parochial School, Philadelphia, Saint Rose of Lima Parochial School, Philadelphia, and Saint Thomas More High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary He also studied at the Gregorian University, Pontifical North American College, in Rome.

Monsignor Murray was ordained on July 12, 1964, at the Church of Dodici, Rome, Italy, by Most Reverend Philip Pocci, and named Honorary Prelate to His Holiness Pope John Paul II on November 20, 1986. Monsignor Murray served on the Faculty, Carinal O’Hara High School, Springfield. He also served as Parochial Vicar, Nativity B.V.M. Parish, Media. Monsignor Murray served on the Faculty at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary from 1970 through 1988, and served as Rector there from 1988 through 1994. In June 1994 he was appointed Pastor, Saint Charles Borromeo Parish, Drexel Hill, where he served for ten years. He was named Pastor at Saint Rose of Lima Parish, North Wales, in June 2004.

The Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Rose of Lima Church, North Wales on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at 4:00 PM, followed by a viewing. A parish Mass will be held at 7:00 PM. Most Reverend Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Monsignor Murray at Saint Rose of Lima Church, on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at 11:00 AM. A viewing will be held beginning at 9:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Dominic Chiaravalle, Reverend Daniel Devine, Reverend J. Thomas Heron, Reverend Kevin Kelly, Reverend Monsignor Anthony Muntone, Diocese of Allentown, Reverend Kevin P. Murray, and Reverend J. Jerome Wild. Father Kevin Murray will be the homilist.

Monsignor Murray is survived by his sister, Sister Maureen Murray, R.S.M., his brothers, Martin and Reverend Kevin P. Murray, nieces and nephews. Interment will be at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
