Monsignor Francis G. Gillgannon, 75, died June 5, 2004, at St. Joseph Health Care Center in Kansas City, MO. Wake services will be held locally at The Little Sisters of the Poor, Jeanne Jugan Center, 8745 James A. Reed Rd., Monday, June 7, 2004, from 4-8 p.m. and in Jefferson City, MO, on Tuesday, June 8, 2004, from 4-8 p.m. at the St. Joseph Cathedral. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated in the Cathedral Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Priests’ section in the Resurrection Cemetery in Jefferson City. Monsignor Gillgannon is survived by his brother, Rev. Michael J. Gillgannon, La Paz, Bolivia; sister, Sr. Mary McAuley Gillgallon, RSM, Omaha, NE; 12 nieces and nephews. Monsignor was ordained April 3, 1954, in Kansas City, MO. He served throughout his priestly ministry in various parishes of the Diocese of Jefferson City including Mission Service in Peru, South America from 1962-1970.
