Monsignor James T. Logan was born to Michael and Frances Logan on April 25, 1929, in Bakersfield, CA, the eldest of four brothers. He was ordained May 8, 1954, at Pontifical College Josephinum in Worthington, Ohio.

He served the Diocese of Monterey/Fresno for 60 years beginning in 1954 with his assignment to Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Bakersfield, followed in 1963 as Vicarium Deconimum at Sacred Heart of Jesus in Exeter. Followed by Uti parochum in June of 1967 at Sacred Heart of Jesus in Exeter. In 1968, he was assigned to St. Philip, Bakersfield as the pastor followed by St. Anthony of Padua in Fresno as Associate Pastor in June of 1981. In December of 1981, he became the first pastor of the new Holy Spirit Parish in northeast Fresno. On January 1, 2009, he was appointed Temporary Administrator, at St. Mary, in Taft. He retired in March of 2002. However, he continued to practice his priesthood until his passing.

He served on various boards and counsel through the years. In 1979, he was bestowed Honorary Prelate of His Holiness, Pope John Paul the II.

Monsignor was a fifty year member of the Lyons Club and actively involved in Bakersfield and Fresno where he served as their chaplain and participated in many activities. He enjoyed watching USC and Oakland Raiders football teams and the New York Yankees baseball team every season.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his three brothers, Fr. Michael Logan, P. Joseph Logan and Gerald Logan.

He is survived by 18 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church followed by Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fresno, CA. Interment to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Fresno, CA.
