Msgr. Sullivan who died on July 24, 2014 was born in San Francisco in 1927 to the late John D. and Hannah Sullivan. He was also predeceased by his brothers Daniel, John, and Edmond Sullivan, and his brother-in-law Thomas Flynn. He is survived by his sister Alice Flynn and numerous nieces and nephews.In 1953 he was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of San Francisco. In this capacity he served in many parishes. Since 2006 Monsignor Sullivan spent his retirement as chaplain at the Nazareth House Retirement Home in San Rafael. With sincere gratitude for the opportunity to continue his priestly ministry he served the spiritual need of the residents and the Sisters of Nazareth. His contact with those in the Nazareth House community endeared him to all those with whom he daily shared his love of God, his wonderful sense of humor, and his genuine interest in the physical and spiritual well-being of all.Monsignor was especially grateful during his last illness for the loving and devoted care of the nuns and the staff of the house and for the attention of Hospice By the Bay. Clergy, family and friends may call after 5:00pm Monday, July 28th at Nazareth House, 245 Nova Albion Way, San Rafael, where the Vigil Service will be at 6:00pm and are invited to the Funeral Mass Tuesday at 10:00am at St. Isabella Church, #1 Trinity Way, San Rafael. Committal Holy Cross Cemetery after the mass and reception. Donations in Monsignor Sullivan’s memory preferred to Nazareth House.
