Assignments: 1952 Assistant Pastor, Immaculate Conception Parish, Lake Charles; 1956 Administrator, St. Raphael Parish in Iowa and later Assistant Pastor, St. Margaret Parish in Lake Charles and chaplain at the Catholic Student Center if Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in McNeese; 1962 Chaplain, Lake Charles Charity Hospital; 1970 Pastor, St. Bernard Parish in Breaux Bridge; 1972 Pastor Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Creole; retired in 1997. He served as Pro-Synodal Judge, Chairman of the Lake Charles Welfare Committee, Regional Newman Chaplain, Moderator of Pre-Cana Conferences, Chaplain for Catholic Daughter of America, member of the Priests’ Senate, and Diocesan Consultor. In 1987 Msgr. Bernard was invested as a Knight of the Holy Sepulcher.
