ZENDZIAN – Monsignor Peter W. – Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, Bishop of Brooklyn, regrets to inform you of the death of Reverend Monsignor Peter W. Zendzian, a priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn ministering as Pastor of Saint Matthias, Ridgewood. Monsignor Zendzian was born on July 23, 1952 in Queens, New York, was ordained to the Priesthood on February 3, 1979, and died Friday, October 23, 2015, at the Parish of Saint Matthias.

Monsignor Zendzian served the Diocese of Brooklyn as Pastor of Saint Matthias (Ridgewood), Holy Cross (Maspeth), Our Lady of Czenstochowa – Saint Casimir (Brooklyn), as well as Parochial Vicar of Saint Margaret (Middle Village), Saint Rose of Lima (Queens), Saint Francis of Assisi (Brooklyn), Saint Francis de Sales (Belle Harbor) and Saint Joseph (Long Island City). He was appointed to the Catholic Migration and Refugee Office and as Coordinator of the Polish Apostolate. Monsignor Zendzian was released from diocesan assignment to serve as Director of Immigration Services for the New York Regional Office of the Office of Migration and Refugee Services of the United States Catholic Conference (USCC). On June 29, 2001, he was named Honorary Canon of the Cathedral Chapter of Lomza, by the Bishop of Lomza. On May 20, 2007, he was named Chaplain to His Holiness.

Monsignor Zendzian is survived by his sister, Mrs. Barbara Albanese, her husband Victor, and their two children, Michelle and Christina.
