Father Raymond Thomas Bosler was born February 8, 1915 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Raymond L. and Clara G. (Seegers) Bosler. He entered St. Meinrad Seminary in Spencer County, Indiana in the fall of 1928. He was one of three students from the school who were chosen in 1935 to study theology at the North American College in Rome, Italy. Bosler was ordained July 31, 1938 in Rome and received a licentiate in sacred theology (S.T.L.) from Angelicum University in 1939. After World War II, he returned to Rome and earned a doctorate at St. Thomas University with a thesis on spiritual theology.
He served the Indianapolis Catholic Archdiocese for more than 50 years and pastored at St. Thomas Aquinas, St. John, Little Flower and Holy Rosary parishes. In 1960, Bosler became the founding editor of The Criterion, a weekly newspaper published by the Archdiocese and remained editor until 1976. He was named a monsignor in 1967 by Pope Paul VI. Rev. Msgr. Raymond T. Bosler passed away at the age of 79 on April 27, 1994.
