The Reverend Monsignor Roger William Formosi Peacefully passed away into the hands of God on October 6, 2015 at the age of 73. One of two grateful sons of Umberto Formosi and Flora (Paci). He was born and baptized in Hamilton in 1942. His brother is Vincent Michael Formosi (Patricia) and his nieces and nephew are Jodi-Anne Formosi (Jorge Oliveira), Vincent Richard and Jaci-Lynn Formosi (Victor Martinho). Having completed formation and education Monsignor Formosi was ordained a priest of Jesus Christ for the Diocese of Hamilton in 1969. He served happily in many and varied ministries including Diocesan Vocation Director (10 years), high school chaplain, pastor of parishes and on countless boards, committees, movements, etc. For five years he served in national ministry as President of Catholic Missions in Canada. Monsignor Formosi was very privileged and grateful to God for the vocation to the holy Priesthood. He also thanks the Lord who blessed him with so many wonderful persons who touched, enriched and inspired his life. Eternal joy with the Holy Trinity and God’s holy people is the ultimate goal and meaning of life. Friends and family will be received at Mary Mother of God Parish, 2741 North Ridge Trail, Oakville, on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. and Friday from 3-9 p.m. A Prayer Vigil will be celebrated Friday at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 10th at 11 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King, 714 King Street West, Hamilton. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, 600 Spring Gardens Road, Burlington. In memory of Monsignor Formosi, donations would be greatly appreciated to Mary Mother of God Parish or Catholic Missions in Canada. Online condolences may be made at www.glenoaks.ca
