On March 4, 2021, Rev. Paul G. Witthauer died peacefully and went to be with the Lord following a lengthy illness. Fr. Paul was born in Baltimore, Maryland to Henry J. Witthauer and Mary V. Witthauer (nee Adams). He attended St. Thomas Aquinas and the Shrine of the Little Flower elementary schools, St. Charles Minor Seminary, St. Mary’s Seminary on Paca St. and St. Mary’s Seminary in Roland Park. Fr. Paul was ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Baltimore at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen on May 28, 1960.

Fr. Witthauer is predeceased by his parents and his siblings H. Joseph Witthauer, Claire G. Taylor, Mary Therese Holloway, and Joan B. Servary. He is survived by his sister Dolores C. Webb and his brothers Michael L. Witthauer and Gregory A. Witthauer, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, his brother priests, other relatives, and friends.

Fr. Witthauer will lie in repose in Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church 7945 North Boundary Road, Dundalk, Maryland 21222 on Tuesday from 2PM until 5PM where a Vigil will be held at 5PM. A concelebrated Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Hope Church on Wednesday, at 11AM. Interment, Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Fr. Paul requested that memorials in his name be made to St. Peter Catholic Church 16 E. High Street Hancock, MD 21750 or to St. Timothy Catholic Church 8651 Biggs Ford Road Walkersville, MD 21793.

Due to the current pandemic, social distancing as well as the use of face coverings are required at the church and cemetery.
