Father Richard F. O’Halloran was born March 16, 1920 to Richard and Hannah O’Halloran in Boston, Mass. Father O’Halloran served his country in the Navy on the U.S.S. Boston in W.W.II. After serving, he entered St. John’s Seminary in Boston, and one year later, attended the first class of the new Seminary at the North American College in Rome, Italy where he was ordained four years later. Father Richard returned to Boston and was assigned to various parishes before moving to California where he was accepted into the Diocese of Monterey. In 2001 Father Richard celebrated fifty years in the Priesthood. Upon retirement he moved to New Bethany in Los Banos, CA., where he officiated daily mass until his illness two years ago. Father O’Halloran is survived by his sister Mrs. Dorothy (Ed deceased) Ford, and niece Mary Ford (Francine), and children of niece Julie (deceased), Elijah, Mariah and Johannah Haakinson of Michigan. The Vigil will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Los Banos, CA., on November 13, 2011 beginning at 6pm.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on November 14, 2011 at St. Mary’s Church in Salinas, CA., beginning at 11am.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Franciscan Sisters at New Bethany, 1441 Berkeley Dr., Los Banos, CA 93635.
