Rev. Robert P. Kownacki, 67, passed away June 1, 2006, following a lengthy illness. A Catholic priest of the Archdiocese of San Antonio, TX, he was a graduate of the Pontifical Gregorian University and was ordained in Rome in December 1963; served in the Archdiocese of San Antonio, Texas, for 25 years as Academic Dean of Assumption Seminary; President of Antonian College Prep; Ecumenical and Interfaith Officer for the Archdiocese; founding pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, San Antonio, and commentator on television, radio and a newspaper columnist. While in Chicago he served on the Ethics Committee for Cook County Hospital. Member of various clinical ethics group and retired as the Medical Ethicist for the Resurrection Health Care System. He is survived by his sister, Marion Tuttle of Palatine and brother, Ralph (Raenita) of Columbus, OH. Visitation Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at Resurrection Life Center, 7370 W. Talcott Ave., Chicago, and 4 to 9 p.m., at Nelson Funeral Home, 820 Talcott Road (at Cumberland), Park Ridge. Funeral Wednesday, 9:15 a.m., from the funeral home, to Immaculate Conception Church. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Interment All Saints Cemetery.
