Rev. Dr. Thomas J. Kelly Jr., ChM, 70, passed away on April 15, 2024, at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Brother of Thaddeus (Carol) Kelly, Cynthia Ann Markakis and Christy Michelle Kelly all of New Jersey. Father Kelly was born in New Brunswick, NJ on July 30, 1953, son of the late Thomas J. and Lucy Piccirillo Kelly, Sr. He was ordained Priest by Archbishop John F. Whealon, D.D. on December 20, 1986, in the Cathedral of St. Joseph, Hartford, CT and served in the Archdiocese as Pastor, Administrator, Parochial Vicar, Master of Ceremonies for Bishop Peter Rosazza and of late, Chaplain to the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. He was invested as Chaplain in the Order of Malta. Father Kelly was an alumnus of Oxford University, Christ Church College, Oxford, England; Notre Dame University, South Bend, IN; North American College (ICTE), Rome, Italy; Christ the King Seminary, East Aurora, NY; St. Mary Seminary and University, Baltimore, MD, taking the degrees of Doctor of Psychology, Doctor of Theology, Master of Theology, Master of Divinity and Bachelor of Theology. He served his country faithfully in the Army and was a Chaplain for the U.S. Navy.

Family and friends may call at Mount Sacred Heart Chapel, 295 Benham Street, Hamden, CT, on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The Most Reverend Leonard P. Blair will be the principal celebrant of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
