Reverend Thomas J. McManus, Faculty, Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, Overbrook, and Resident, Saint Margaret Rectory, Narberth, died at the home of his sister, Judy Marley, in Penn Wynne, Pennsylvania, on February 26, 2004. Father McManus was born on June 3, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pa. He is the son of the late Thomas Aloysius McManus and the late Catherine Doughty. Father McManus attended Our Lady of the Rosary School, Philadelphia, and St. Thomas More High School, Philadelphia before entering St. Charles Borromeo Seminary. Father McManus was ordained on December 20, 1968, by Mst Reverend Francis F. Reh, at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. Father McManus was a student priest at the Pontifical North American College from 1968 to 1969. He served as a Parochial Vicar at St. John Bosco Parish, Hatboro, and St. William Parish in Philadelphia. In 1972 Father McManus was appointed to the faculty of Cardinal Dougherty High School in Philadelphia, where he served for nine years. From 1981 to 1991 he served on the faculty at Roman Catholic High School, also in Philadelphia. Father McManus attended Gregorian University in Rome, where he received an STL degree in 1996. He joined the faculty of St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Overbrook in the year 2000. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by His Eminence Cardinal Justin Rigali at St. Martin’s Chapel, St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Overbrook. on Monday March 1, 2004 at 1pm. Assisting on the altar will be Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge, Most reverend Joseph T. Martino, Reverend Robert J. Chapman, Reverend William P. Donnelly, Reverend Stephen J. Dougherty, Reverend Monsignor Andrew J. Golias, Reverend Edward A. Hamilton, Reverend Monsignor William J. Lynn, and Reverend Monsignor Charles P. Vance. Bishop Martino will be the homilist. Father McManus is survived by his Sister Judy Marley and Her husband, James of Wynnewood, Pa. and his brothers; Robert McManus and his wife, Anne of Scotland, and James McManus and his wife, Andrea of Upper Darby, Pa. He is also survived by his 9 nieces and nephews. There will be the transfer of Father’s body Sunday eve at 5 pm at St. Charles Seminary in Overbrook and a viewing will take place Sunday eve from 6 to 9 pm and Monday from 11 am to 12:45 pm in St. Martin’s Chapel on the Seminary grounds.
