Father Todd Michael Anthony Reitmeyer May 13, 1969 – May 24, 2006 Father Todd Reitmeyer, a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Sioux Falls serving in Faulkton, Seneca and Orient, SD, entered into eternal life on May 24, 2006. Father Todd passed away in a boating accident while on vacation in Austin, Texas. He was visiting friends and family. Father Todd was born on May 13, 1969, to David and Phyllis Reitmeyer in Virginia. His family moved to Austin, Texas, in 1982. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1993, was a proud member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets, and earned a Master’s degree in counseling from Northeast Missouri State. He attended St. John Vianney Seminary in St. Paul, MN, before studying Theology at North American College in Rome. He was ordained on June 13, 2003, at St. Joseph Cathedral in Sioux Falls, SD, by Bishop Robert Carlson. Father Todd was preceded in death by his father in 1992. Father Todd is survived by his mother, Phyllis Steiger and step-father, Roger Steiger of Stewartville, MN; his sister and brother-in-law, Christina Sheely and George of Coldwater, MI; his brother and sister-in-law, William and Terra Reitmeyer of Hutto, Tex.; his brother, Thomas Reitmeyer of College Station, Tex.; his godson, Joshua Mireles of Austin, Tex.; his goddaughter, Sophia Metzinger of Minneapolis, MN; niece and nephews; and many friends. A Scripture service will be held at his longtime parish, Santa Cruz Catholic Church in Buda, Texas, Monday evening, May 29, 2006, at 7:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday morning, May 30, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at Santa Cruz Church. He will be buried at Assumption Cemetery, Austin, Texas, immediately following the mass.
