Reverend William Edward Donnelly, born in Chicago, IL, on August 15, 1944, ordained to the Priesthood on March 27, 1971, born into Eternal Life on September 29, 2022. Loving son of the late William Patrick and Mary Jane Donnelly (nee Feeney); dear brother of the late Danielle A. (Robert) Janninck; uncle of James R. (Emily) Janninck and Mark D. (Nicole) Janninck; great uncle of Nathan, Olivia, Nora, and Lauren Janninck.
Fr Bill studied at St Lucy Grade School in Chicago, graduated from Immaculate Conception Grade School in Elmhurst, Quigley Preparatory Seminary in Chicago, St Mary of the Lake Seminary in Mundelein, and The Gregorian University in Rome. He obtained the following degrees: A.B., M.A., S.T.L., J.C.L.
Fr Bill served as Associate Pastor of St Philip the Apostle in Addison, St Joseph in Downers Grove, St. Dennis in Lockport and St Paul the Apostle in Joliet; the Chaplain of St. Francis Woods Motherhouse; the Pastor of St Raphael in Naperville, St Isaac Jogues in Hinsdale, and Ascension of Our Lord in Oakbrook Terrace. Fr Bill also served the Diocese as Notary in the Diocesan Chancery, Assistant Chancellor, Master of Ceremonies, Secretary to Bishop Blanchette, Chancellor and Moderator of the Curia for the Diocese of Joliet, Secretary of Communications, and Member of the Board at Lewis University.
The Family will receive friends on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 9:00am at Ascension of Our Lord Church, 1 South Summit Avenue, Oakbrook Terrace, IL, with a Funeral Mass at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations to your local Catholic Church and School would be appreciated.
